It was a goal feast in Kingsgrove on Saturday morning. The cold morning air gave way to some sizzling football action as the Raiders scored 4 goals in a high scoring and enthralling contest against the Bexley North Bombers.
The Bombers kept the Raiders keeper #57 on his toes in the first half. He was called on early to make a number of crucial and impressive saves. After some excellent pressure from Bexley North they eventually scored mid-way through the first half.
The Raiders refused to drop their heads and with great spirit scored a goal of their own after some quick thinking from a throw in by #7. He put the ball behind the last defender and number #10 flicked the ball to #25 who calmly slotted the ball past the keeper for a magical team goal.
The game opened up in the second half with both sides having multiple shots on goal. #27 repeated his goal keeping heroics from round 2 at one stage making four saves in a row to keep his side in the contest. #60 made a welcome return to the team and she made some crucial tackles at the back halting the rampaging Bombers attack.
Late in the second half goal scoring machine #15 scored a double. His second goal was straight out of the top shelve, bending the ball past a defender and the keeper. #15 is fast developing a reputation as one of the premier finishes in the St George district. With not much time on the clock remaining it was #11 who won the ball at the back and got the Raiders out of trouble with a pinpoint pass to #57. #57 beat two defenders and passed a precise through ball to #15 who made a timely run down the left hand side of the field. He crossed the ball into the box and #7 with great control hit the volley and beat the keeper all ends up with a wonderful strike.
It was a good natured and friendly contest and the Raiders thanked the Bombers for the game.
