Message from David Gallop

Oct 19, 2013 | News

A short while ago I spoke directly to David Gallop and he asked a lot of questions about our Club.  Let’s hope that he can ensure that small clubs like us can continue to offer parents a program for their children that they can afford.  Our President Ron Ogilvie is also concerned that the growth of commercially driven elite competitions within our associations that are taking away good players and revenue from clubs.  He has written directly to David Gallop on this issue.

The FFA will be doing its job when it’s on the bottom supporting us and we are on the top of its priorities (and not the other way around).

Here is the Message from David Gallop CEO FFA

Hi Stephen,

On behalf of Football Federation Australia, I would like to thank you for your hard work over the recent grassroots football season.

In my first 12 months at FFA, one of the most humbling experiences has been the opportunity to witness first-hand the passion and dedication of our Club Administrators, Volunteers, Referees and Coaches. From organising training sessions to putting up corner flags on a Saturday morning, the effort you put in allows players across the country to enjoy this great game, and does not go unappreciated.

FFA shares this dedication to grassroots football, and our aim over the coming months is to prepare resources that will provide support and guidance throughout the next winter season. Some of these key initiatives include:

  • A National Coaching Resource, delivering the new philosophy and practices of FFA’s National Curriculum in a user-friendly format for Coaches.
  • A revised National Referee curriculum, including new teaching resources from FIFA and AFC.
  • A National Club Accreditation Scheme, helping grassroots Clubs achieve best practice in all areas of Club Management.
  • A revamped MyFootballClub website, delivering more information and resources to all roles within the game.

Be sure to stay up to date with these initiatives by visiting myfootballclub.com.au.

It is the efforts and commitment of our army of volunteers that underpins the success of the sport. On the cusp of the ninth Hyundai A-League season, and with our Socceroos busy preparing for next year’s 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ there has never been a more exciting time to be involved in football.

Whether you are taking part in football activities over the summer, or getting ready to enjoy your off-season, we look forward to working with you again next year.

Yours sincerely,

David Gallop Chief Executive Officer Football Federation Australia
