Under 18 Match Report

Apr 15, 2013 | Matches, News

The boys were pumped for the first round game against Oatley RSL renowned as a formidable opponent. The team has only been together for 3 weeks with very little preparation and trials and boy did they give Oatley a bit of a scare.

Oatley opened up the scoring after a good 25 mins whilst the boys were settling in to each other’s roles and started to find some rhythm. Matt, Max, Chris Brosnan and Tanaka were busy closing down all attacks Oatley threw at them and Jason was busy at the goal mouth with some fantastic saves throughout the game.

In the midfield Michael and Nunzio were trying everything to get play out of our half with many chances going begging and by half time we unfortunately conceded another goal by a great header.

The second half began very positively and almost instantly the boys started pressuring Oatley forcing them to play in their half. With David threatening the Oatley goal on many occasions enough pressure was applied resulting in our first goal for the season by Aleko and Roko combining.

Jordan, John and Jamie worked hard to restore some pride but by this point fatigue and tempers were setting in and both sides were lucky they didn’t lose players when a melee broke out. The lack of match fitness was starting to show in all and surely but slowly we conceded two more quick goals finishing up with a loss 4-1.

Overall the team showed great signs of character and skill that would easily rival any team and as match fitness improves so will the results….

Well done boys.
